The Hong Kong Prize provides a platform for recognizing diverse arts talents, cultivating active community support for arts development and encouraging public participation in the arts. It honours prominent arts practitioners, organizations and patrons for their outstanding contributions towards building local art scenes.
Winner of HK$100,000 award can use prize money to realise their artistic vision and their work will be displayed in galleries or museums in Hong Kong as well as promoted online. Competition open to art-lovers who want to make an impactful statement about Hong Kong society!
Winners of HK$100,000 prizes will be informed via phone call of their lucky draw results and should bring both their award notification letter and valid Hong Kong identity document for identification verification when collecting their prizes.
This year, an impressive total of HK$480 million will be given away as prizes to changemakers worldwide in various fields such as science and technology, education, arts, social development, environmentalism and environmental sustainability. Half of this prize amount will serve as unrestricted project funding so the winners can expand their innovations worldwide and benefit more people worldwide.
Pony Ma, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Tencent and founder of Tencent Foundation, joined with prominent scientists to establish the Xplorer Prize. This esteemed prize encourages young scientists (aged 45 or below) in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau to explore uncharted areas of basic sciences or frontier technologies with a particular emphasis on independent thinking, exploration, creativity innovation and feasibility.
Professor FAN Zhiyong of EdUHK’s Departments of Electronic & Computer Engineering and Chemical & Biological Engineering was recognized with this year’s Xplorer Prize 2022 (Ke Xue Tan Suo Jiang). Prof Fan was chosen as one of two awardees from Hong Kong in the field of advanced interdisciplinary studies.
This new policy will increase prize money for Class One, Two and Three races by over 20% with particular attention being given to rewarding PPs. Under previous policy, a bonus for first class wins in Class Two was worth one million Hong Kong dollars; now however this top-up remains at one million and their bonus for Class Three wins has been increased from two million Hong Kong dollars to five.
This marks the fourth time the Hong Kong Racing Association has awarded a bonus of HK$5 million to PPs that win in Class Three, as a tribute to their importance to Hong Kong horseracing and in recognition of the Government’s long-term strategic plan to strengthen our racing industry and improve international competitiveness. We hope that by offering this prize package it will encourage further PP development and enhance local horseracing quality overall.
