What is the HK Prize?

HK Prize is an international scientific research competition which recognizes scientific work with significant societal benefit and inspires young people to follow their passion while cultivating global perspectives. This year’s theme “Broadening Horizons” is particularly timely given recent global developments such as climate change, increasing economic disparity, and suppressed freedom of speech.

This year’s HK Prize went to four scientists across various fields. At an award ceremony held on November 12 in Hong Kong, winners received their medals and certificates as well as taking part in an engaging panel discussion about future scientific advancements at a roundtable event hosted two days later.

The HK Prize was established to honour George B. Endacott, who played an instrumental role in reestablishing the Department of History at University of Hong Kong after World War II. Each year it is given to an outstanding research postgraduate student achieving outstanding results in history and serves as an important tool to foster research into Hong Kong history as an academic discipline in its own right.

Additionally, researchers who wish to pursue specific areas in science and technology may apply for other awards available from institutions, such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It offers various prizes in fields like mathematics and physics; applicants must submit proposals in order to win any of them, usually filling out an application form and answering some questions as part of this application process.

If you want to improve your chances of winning the HK Prize, try to avoid common errors such as not conducting enough research on the subject, failing to make clear arguments, and writing in unclear language. Such errors could make your proposal appear unprofessional and unqualified and decrease its chance of being selected as one of five finalists.

The Hong Kong Prize offers researchers and students an excellent opportunity to showcase their innovative ideas on how Hong Kong can contribute to global development efforts. Organized by Generocity, a nonprofit organization supporting sustainable development in Hong Kong and international cooperation, this competition awards both a grant of HK$5,000 as well as global networking opportunities. Applicants can participate by submitting innovative plans on implementing Official Development Assistance (ODA) programs here until November 20, 2022 – for more information visit their official website of the prize!
