The Hongkong Prize is one of Asia’s most exciting competitions to compete for, open to residents from Southeast Asia, mainland China and international applicants alike. Winning teams can expect both financial rewards as well as access to world-class research facilities in Hong Kong. In addition, participating can increase your visibility among peers while improving writing skills – plus winners will have an opportunity to attend an awards ceremony and get recognition in media coverage!
Prizes will be given to researchers who have accomplished significant breakthroughs with worldwide impact in their fields, regardless of race, nationality, gender or religion. Prizes could take the form of either Lifetime Achievement Awards or Early Career Contribution Awards or both; no individual researcher can win both prizes during any one prize cycle.
If no winner emerges for the first prize, its value will be added to a jackpot fund and can be won in future draws until someone does claim it – this process continues until someone does claim their first prize – which can total as much as HK$100 million, although first prizes have previously reached over HK$164 million! Odds of winning for Mega Draws average around 1 in 340,500.
Winners can benefit from increased global visibility and top-tier media coverage. Furthermore, world-class research facilities will be made available as well as access to an expansive network of collaborators in Hong Kong. Furthermore, winners will have the chance to participate in workshops and exhibitions to further explore their creativity; providing young researchers with an excellent opportunity to advance science globally.
The BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize is an annual non-governmental merit-based award initiated in 2022 by the Hong Kong Alliance of Technology and Innovation with title sponsorship provided by Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited. The aim of this prize is to recognize scientific researchers in the community, nurture forward-looking scientists and establish Hong Kong as an international research and innovation hub.
If there is an equal number of awardees, a jury shall draw lots to select a winner and announce his/her names at a ceremony. Awardees also have an opportunity to present their work and meet scientists from Hong Kong and Mainland China.
As well as receiving a monetary prize, winners will also receive a trophy and certificate from Hongkong Prize organizers. Should any awardee violate any provisions of the Charter, the Board reserves the right to withhold both prize money and certificate; similarly all personnel involved with award work are subject to confidentiality obligations – for more details refer to the Charter. This award is worth millions so if you win it could change your life completely; but be careful in reading all rules and regulations prior to entering; otherwise you could end up losing all your savings!
