The HK Prize and Other Awards

HK Prize is an innovative competition offering young writers an opportunity to win cash prizes and build their reputation. The Hong Kong Prize is one of Asia’s premier awards, drawing thousands of applicants annually. It honors scientific research with global impact while inspiring more people to enter science careers. Winners will receive both a substantial monetary prize as well as access to Hong Kong’s premier research facilities.

This year’s finalists have been revealed and the winner will be chosen by a panel of judges and awarded at a ceremony on 1 April 2022. Winners should exhibit outstanding contributions in science and technology fields with particular consideration given to applications with strong potential practical application in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau or Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area areas.

Generocity’s 2023 HK Global Development Prize competition seeks to harness innovative ideas on creating an Official Development Assistance (ODA) program in Hong Kong that can serve to further its role as an international hub for development and fulfill its commitments towards global cooperation on development issues.

Participants interested in participating should submit an essay outlining their thoughts on Hong Kong’s future, whether this involves research, innovation or any other topic relevant to their career path. Applicants must be at least 18 years old with a valid Hong Kong ID card – the winner will be announced via email.

Finalists will receive not only a prestigious award but will also be invited to an exclusive ceremony where they can meet leading experts in their respective fields and build valuable networks of contacts while learning from industry masterminds.

At the 2020 Hong Kong Film Awards, several popular films won prizes. Legal drama A Guilty Conscience took home top honors as one of the highest-grossing movies. Raging Fire took home three awards: music editing and action choreography.

Students and teachers honoured George B. Endacott for reviving the History Department after World War II with a prize to recognize his outstanding research efforts in his area of research. Prize is presented to the third-year student with the highest mark in History among those taking 48 credits or more of this subject. The Hong Kong Phil was honored to receive this distinguished award from its supporters, including the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and principal patron, Swire Group. We express our heartfelt thanks for their dedication and generosity; with their help we will complete our four-year project of recording and performing Wagner’s Ring Cycle.
